Americans Consider Real Estate Best Long-term Investment Choice

An annual Gallup poll revealed that the majority of Americans surveyed once again ranked real estate as their top choice for the best long-term investment. The housing market out-ranked choices in stocks, mutual funds, gold, savings accounts/CDs, or bonds.

According to Gallup, “Real estate remains the most favored investment to Americans, as has been the case since 2013 when the housing market was on the rebound. More than a third of Americans have named real estate as the top investment since 2016.”

The 2020 results reflect that 35% of Americans prefer real estate investments, followed by stocks at 21%. Savings accounts rank at the bottom of the options.

The results indicate the stability many Americans see in the real estate market for long-term investments, in spite of any challenging economic conditions.

Similarly, the local real estate market in Manatee County has seen stability in real estate investment in recent weeks, even as economic conditions remain relatively uncertain due to COVID-19.  According to the REALTOR Association of Sarasota and Manatee, Manatee County recorded 445 sales in May of 2020, a drop from the previous year, but a gain of 1.6% in the median sale price. The sale price increase indicates the still-strong value of the housing market in the local area.

Specifically, at North Manatee County’s newest master-planned community, North River Ranch community, 34 total sales were recorded in the second quarter of 2020 at the development.

“For nearly a decade now, real estate has consistently ranked at the top of long-term investment choices, which we see reflected in our local market,” said John A. Neal, President of Neal Land & Neighborhoods. “The strong sales reported at North River Ranch indicate homebuyers desire to invest in real estate, even during unprecedented economic conditions.”

The first homebuilder to begin construction and sales at the community, Centex, launched at North River Ranch in mid-April. Since mid-April, Centex has sold 34 homes.  Cenex offers 11 unique floor plans for future residents to choose from. Over the next few weeks, five more home builders will begin unveiling their floor plan designs and will open sales to prospective homebuyers.

For Manatee County homebuyers interested in investing in planned communities, North River Ranch will offer a variety of options for housing in the master-planned community.

In addition to residential real estate options, the development will feature commercial spaces for retail, office, and entertainment.
