Barbara A. Harvey Elementary School is “Home of the Sharks” and was built in 2019. They feature education from kindergarten to 5th grade and very stylish school uniforms. It’s only a short walk to and from school within our community at North River Ranch. As part of the Manatee County extended day enrichment program, Harvey Elementary also offers a convenient before/after school program for children 4 years old until 5th grade. The program has been designed to provide affordable, active, and enriching environment for your youngsters. For working or busy parents, this program is a real lifesaver. Besides academic excellence, Harvey Elementary offers programs to enhance your child’s experience, such as the P.E.E.R. Program (Prepare Encourage Empower and Respect), Wave Runners Running Club, and lots of eLearning tools.
Buffalo Creek Middle School is only a few minutes away by car and focuses on grades 6th through 8th grade. Their mission is “to inspire our students with a passion for learning, to pursue their dreams confidently and creatively while contributing to our community, nation and world.” They are an official Cambridge Assessment International School which has many advantages. Cambridge courses in middle school prepare students for the A.I.C.E. diploma in high school. The A.I.C.E. program is a jump start to the skills, pace, and demands of higher education coursework. Students can also earn high school credits in middle school. Also, the Cambridge curriculum in middle school develops skills in cooperative learning and critical thinking connected to the academically diverse, global environment of today. As icing on the cake, Buffalo Creek Middle School has programs such as ExSL (Extreme Student Leadership), F.F.A. (Future Farmers of America), N.J.H.S. (National Junior Honors Society), and T.S.A. (Technology Students Association). All of those sound great to us!
Parrish Community High School (“Home of the Bulls”) is near and dear to us at North River Ranch. Recognizing the need for good public schools in the area, Neal Land & Neighborhoods was instrumental in facilitating the new Parrish Community High School’s development in 2019. It’s known for providing “a safe and supportive environment, focused on academic excellence, social awareness, and community involvement to create innovative learners who are inspired to meet local and global challenges.” There are so many activities that students can enjoy here too. They have a robust athletics program, student government, dynamic commercial arts program with shows & exhibits, a robust automotive program, the Bullpen student newspaper, dance team, technology student association, and plenty more to engage every interest.
A State College of Florida campus is coming to North River Ranch
Set to open in 2022 by North River Ranch is a new State College of Florida campus! We’ve very excited about this. It’s a wonderful amenity only a short walk away from your beautiful new home here. They will offer associate and bachelor’s degree programs. Pursuing a degree, enhancing your skills, or earning a new degree will only be a few steps from your door. The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, was established in 1957 and has a long and acclaimed history of higher education. Stay tuned for more information and exciting updates! Other Universities in the area include the University of South Florida with 3 campuses and The University of Tampa.
